Brazilian Waxing

Brazilian waxing is one of the most popular waxing services. However, this is also the type of wax that can cause the most anxiety among clients, especially if you’ve never had a Brazilian before. When you choose Nailkitchen, there is no need to worry. We want to make your experience as comfortable as possible and our estheticians are happy to answer any of your questions.

What is a Brazilian Wax

A Brazilian wax removes hair from your pubic area, either making it completely bare or leaving a small landing strip or triangle of hair. This is different from a bikini wax, which only removes hair along your bikini line, near your pubic area, but not removing anything that is covered by your bikini. If you prefer more minimal hair removal, we do offer bikini waxing as well as full Brazilians.

Brazilian waxing got its name from a group of Brazilian sisters (the J Sisters) who started offering the service at their Manhattan salon in 1987. They said they used this technique because bikinis back home in Brazil were smaller and there was a strong focus on personal grooming.

Brazilian Waxing vs. Shaving

There are many options to remove unwanted hair from your bikini area. Shaving is one way to get rid of this hair, but it can be a lot of work and to stay completely smooth you may need to shave every day. Since the skin in your pubic area is so sensitive, shaving can cause irritation, razor burn, ingrown hairs, and little cuts that feel uncomfortable and look unsightly.

Body waxing has some of the same risks as shaving, and ingrown hairs and irritation are still very much possible. However, you have the benefit of a professional who knows how to best prevent these issues. Additionally, our company offers high-quality products to reduce redness and prevent ingrown hairs. Brazilian waxing also gives you more time before you need to worry about hair removal again. Each time you wax, hair growth slows down. Eventually, you may be able to wait as long as four weeks before you return.

what to know before waxing

If you are trying Brazilian waxing for the first time, there is no need to be nervous. Following a few simple steps can make the process less painful and help yield the best results.

1) don’t shave before your wax appointment

For waxing to work properly, you need to have enough hair for the wax to stick, about ¼ of an inch. It may sound counterintuitive, but longer hair is better for Brazilian waxing. Depending on how fast your hair grows, you will likely want to stop shaving at least two weeks before your appointment.

2) Preparing for your wax

There are a few things you can do before your appointment to make the experience more comfortable for you. Taking a warm shower can help open your pores and make removing hair easier. Exfoliating to remove dead skin cells can also be beneficial and we offer many products for this purpose at our waxing studio.

3) Relax

A lot of people start to get anxious before a wax. Our waxing professionals are here to make sure your waxing goes flawlessly from start to finish and we take special care to ensure that your procedure is as relaxing and pain free as possible. While there is always some discomfort with this method of hair removal, it is not as bad as many people assume, and we are here to guide you every step of the way.

4) After a Brazilian Wax

After your wax, you should make sure to exfoliate the area to remove dead skin and keep it smooth. We offer a variety of products that you can use after your Brazilian for the best results.

5) our estheticians are here to help

Keep in mind that our professionals are here to help you and we want you to have the best experience possible. Do not hesitate to ask us any questions you have before, during, or after your Brazilian waxing. We promise that it is not awkward and we have probably heard your questions before.
